Wannabe Jet Setter

Basically the last two and a half weeks have been a whirlwind adventure for me and my family. From seemingly endless visits to airports and train stations and ferry terminals, we made our way through northern Europe, from Amsterdam to St. Petersburg and back again.

On this trip I fell in love with Amsterdam and its canals, and almost fell victim to one of its crazy bicyclists on more than one occasion,

took in the view of the Norwegian fjords from a ferry,

traced the history of Berlin from its founding to the fall of the Berlin Wall,

wandered through old town in Tallin, Estonia,

got lost in the Peterhof gardens in Russia,

And worked our way back west to Copenhagen, stopping in Helsinki and Stockholm along the way.

This summer was the vacation of a lifetime, but here's to hoping that I'll return again some day. Until then, Europe will be calling my name

Packing for Europe: Summer Travel Edition

and she's off again! T-4 days until I leave for Europe and again I'm in a panic when it comes to packing. We're heading to Amsterdam and northern europe where the weather can be a little unpredictable. Highs are in the upper 70's and low 80's in some cities while the lows are in the 60's!

Packing smart and packing light are essential so I'm taking pieces that are light, layerable, and versatile. I love the tissue tees and other light knit shirts from J.Crew, along with a chambray shirt and a classic grey cardigan to layer over top on cooler mornings. A couple different pairs of jeans in white and classic blue along with chino shorts in versatile neutral colors like black, khaki, and navy are also perfect because they can be worn with multiple outfits.

Along with my everyday clothes, I'm also bringing a few dresses to wear out at night, foul weather gear, sandals and wedges, a small cross body bag and a larger tote, and a linen scarf to carry during the day in case I go into a cathedral or somewhere where I need to cover my shoulders/chest.

bon voyage, y'all!
